Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary
A Service Learning Group Project

Service learning projects are meant to give students the opportunity to go out into the community and produce writing for a non-profit organization. The idea behind service learning is that students will gain real-world writing experience, and an organization will recieve a product or service that will help their day-to-day operations, or that they have found a need for in some way. For my group, it was easy to decide that we wanted to work with animals (as it is a collected passion) and Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary quickly expressed interest and excitement in working with us. As part of our project, we all made a visit to the farm and toured the facilities and had the opportunity to photograph some of the animals while listening to their stories. Moving forward, we remained in close contact and met again with the director of the farm to discuss making a set of brochures to serve several different forms of clientele. Together we created 3 brochures: The Visitation Program, The New Educational Center, and The Adoption Process.
